Our clients are occasionally seeking experienced clinical psychologists to join teams specialising in assisting patients (and their families) who are currently receiving treatment. This will include the identification of, and intervention for psychological needs related to cancer care.
The role involves providing targeted clinical work to people living with cancer and their families and whanau. You may also have responsibility in providing education in psychological and social issues to cancer services. You will work within a multidisciplinary team providing support to the treatment team and working alongside other Allied Health disciplines.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the issues affecting people with cancer, and their families/whanau. You’ll provide assessment, therapy and/or further referral in response to problems such as educational, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Within this role there may be the potential for individual, group and family based therapies.
To be considered it is:
- essential to have a postgraduate qualification in clinical psychology (e.g. masters, doctorate or post graduate diploma etc.) and post qualifying practise experience.
- required to have assessment and treatment experience within an integrated health care system offering services to people with cancer.
- essential to have multidisciplinary experience and to be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with other professionals.
