Key Focus :

This is a management position. The Principal Psychologist is responsible for leading & supervising a  team of psychologists, monitoring service delivery, implementing policy & procedural guidelines & ensuring the provision of quality psychological services.

Place of work:

This role is located in modern purpose built office in Kaikohe, a small rural township. The office is co-located with Probation Service and is a 15 minute drive from the Ngawha Correctional Facility (Prison). 

This is a relatively new service and came into being with the establishment of the Ngawha Corrections Facility. Visiting psychological services  are also provided to Community Probation Service Centres in Whangarei, Kaikohe, Kaitaia and Dargaville

Key Roles:

  • To manage and supervise a small team of psychologists (3) and and one administration person.

  • To contribute to interservice management and service development.

  • To contribute to the development and maintenance of relationships with stake holders.

Required skills & experience:

  • Ideally you would be able  to demonstrate experience in psychological assessment & treatment,  team leadership & supervision, relationship & resource management and  have skills in research & evaluation.

  •  You  will be experience in the assessment of offending behaviour and recidivism risk; the provision of consultation to custody and probation professionals; and knowledge of offence focused cognitive behavioural interventions would be an advantage.

Professional  Requirements:

Registration or eligibility for registration under the New Zealand Psychologists Board clinical or general scopes of practice.

Salary:

From NZD $85.000 - $105,000.

Locum Psychologist (Justice) to cover parental leave this is a contract position through to August 2009. The position is best suited to a psychologist with at least 1 years experience. The focus of the role is the assessment of offending needs and risk, case management consultation to prison and probation services, forensic report writing and individual therapy. You would join a well established and supportive team with a good level of senior amd management support.
