University Faculty of Applied Psychology within the Faculty of Health and an on campus Psychology Clinic. This Centre has a strong commitment to excellence in research and teaching and a growing reputation as a quality professional training and research unit, with a particular focus on the mental health and wellbeing of youth.  Staff at the Centre have an applied focus.

Key Focus

  • Teaching in the Clinical Psychology course and contribute to the other Psychology courses as required.

  • Supervise clinical placements in a recently refurbished campus Psychology Clinic.

  • Supervise research students in projects involving or related to youth mental health.

Key Roles:

  • The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, and workshops.

  • Initiation and development of subject material.

  • Acting as unit coordinator.

  • The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars.

  • Clinical supervision of interns in the Master of Clinical Psychology course.

  • Supervision of the program study of honours students or of postgraduate students engaged in course work.

  • Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects.

  • The conduct of research.

  • Involvement in professional activity.

  • Development of course material with appropriate advice from and support of more senior staff.

  • Marking and assessment.

  • Consultation with students.

  • A range of administrative functions the majority of which are connected with the subjects in which the academic teaches.

  • Attendance at Centre and Faculty meetings and membership committees.

Required skills & experience:

 Essential

  • .Eligible for registration as a Psychologist with the ACT Psychologist Board and eligible for membership of the Australian Psychological Society’s College of Clinical Psychologist.

  • Advanced academic qualifications, normally at Doctoral level, in Psychology.

  • Demonstrated capacity to design, develop, coordinate and deliver subject and course material related to clinical Psychology.

  • Established record of research and publication in an area of Psychology.

  • Demonstrated experience supervising intern psychologist.

  • Established links with outside organisations that are of benefit to the University.

  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Capacity and commitment to contribute to flexible modes of academic program development and delivery.

  • Willingness and capacity to engage in entrepreneurial activities of benefit to the University.

  •  Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to implementation of equity and workplace health and safety principles.

Desirable

  • Research supervision experience.

  • 2. Research experience in the field of youth mental health.

  • 3. Knowledge and experience in all aspects of using a broad range of neuropsychological instruments.

Professional  Requirements:

The appointee will be eligible for membership of the College of Clinical Psychologist and psychologist registration within the ACT.

Salary:

US$68,719 - $81,390 pa plus generation superannuation.

Contract:

This position will be appointed on a fixed term for 3 years, with the possibility of converting to continuing.
