Key Focus

The Principal Psychologist is responsible for leading & supervising a  team of psychologists, monitoring service delivery, implementing policy & procedural guidelines & ensuring the provision of quality psychological services.

To manage a team of Psychological Service staff who are dedicated to the delivery of a range of psychological services to, Courts, Parole Boards, offenders serving custodial and community sentences.

 Place of Work:

This  office is located in new well resourced offices in South Auckland (Manukau). 

Key Roles:

  • The focus of criminal justice or forensic psychology in New Zealand is the reduction of re-offending i.e. work will revolve around the psychological assessment of offending risk & needs & the targeting of interventions to offenders.

  • The South Auckland office is relatively new & came into begin with the establishment of the Springhill Corrections Facility in the North Waikato and the Auckland Region Women’s Corrections Facility. These new state-of –the-art facilities house offenders from the Auckland area and the office provides services to them as well as to the offenders serving community sentence in South Auckland.
     

Required skills & experience:

  • You do not have to have a Corrections background but you will be a registered psychologist with clinical or forensic training.

  •  You will need to have demonstrated experience in psychological assessment & treatment, team leadership & supervision, have skills in research & evaluation, relationship & resource management.

Professional  Requirements:

Registration or eligibility for registration under the New Zealand Psychologists Boards clinical or general scopes of practice.

Salary:

From NZD $85,000.
