Key Focus: |
The key focus is to work as part of the team to
ensure effective assessment, treatment, support and recovery of service
users; to assess, plan and deliver appropriate clinical psychology
interventions for clients both individually and in group settings; to work
in conjunction with other team members and General Practitioners; to perform
effectively both autonomously and as part of a team. |

Place of Work: |
The
position is based in Hamilton (Waikato) in a small supportive private
practice. |
|
Key Role: |
The clinical tasks in this role are to provide
clinical psychological assessments, develop formulations and make diagnoses
where appropriate undertaking appropriate psychometric testing, to develop
and document treatment plans providing effective client focused clinical
psychology interventions, based on assessment and formulation, to maintain
accurate records of all consumers seen and participation at team meetings,
to attend clinical psychological supervision, to maintain and develop
knowledge and skills in Mental Health Recovery and clinical psychology
practice and to participate in relevant ongoing education
The appointee will need to comply with the core
competencies for New Zealand Registration as a Clinical Psychologist, have a
working knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures and be
familiar with Code of Ethics for Psychology. |

Required skills & experience: |

Proven competence in Clinical Psychology
practice including psychometric testing with a sound knowledge of
relevant and appropriate psychological intervention and assessment
techniques.

Demonstrated ability to use sound clinical
judgements in a wide range of situations, to relate well to Mental
Health Service consumers, their families and to Agencies and Support
Groups.

Effective written and oral communication
skills and the ability to work as an autonomous practitioner and as a
member of a team with a commitment to clinical and professional
development, showing a pattern of continuous earning and updating of
skills and knowledge.

A working knowledge of the Treaty of
Waitangi and of Maori, Pacific Island and other ethnic cultural issues
as they relate to mental health and sensitivity and understanding of
cultural issues and a commitment to biculturalism as well as cultural
safety in the work place

Registration or eligibility for registration under the New Zealand Psychologists Boards clinical
f practice. |
