Job Title:

Clinical Psychologist

Key Focus:

Forensic Intellectual Disability Service (FIDS)

Key Role:

To function as part of a multi-disciplinary team in providing  clinical psychological services to clients with intellectual disability and consultation services to staff.

To supervise trainees and other clinical psychologists as required.

To contribute to quality improvement initiatives through the provision of professional services to the team/service or division.

To contribute to the functioning of and knowledge base of the discipline of clinical psychology within the wider service.

Place of Work:

The position is based in Hamilton (Waikato) in a multi-disciplinary team with in a within a regional forensic psychiatric service.

Required skills & experience:

  •  Qualification in clinical psychology.

  • Ability to carry out psychological forensic assessments and interventions with adults with an intellectual disability.

  • Ability to use clinical psychometric, neuropsychological tools and offence related assessment tools.

  • Understanding of clinical case management in a multidisciplinary setting.

  • Ability to be goal orientated and outcome focused.

  • Effective communication skills.

 

Professional  Requirements:

Registration or eligibility for registration under the  New Zealand Psychologists Boards clinical scope of practice.

Career Path:

Advancement by yearly increment up a nine step salary scale.

Psychologists can progress to senior and consultant grades (i.e., a separate merit scale).
