Key Role:

To function as part of a multi-disciplinary in providing clinical psychological services to clients with alcohol or drug disorder.

To contribute to quality improvement initiatives through the provision of professional services to the team/service or division.

To contribute to the functioning of and knowledge base of the discipline of clinical psychology within the wider service.

Place of Work:

The position is based in Hamilton (Waikato) in a multi-disciplinary  team. This is a small friendly team that is missing the skills and experience a clinical psychologist can bring to their service.

Required skills & experience:

•  Qualification in clinical psychology and experience working with clients with alcohol or drug problems.

•  Ability to carry out psychological assessments and interventions with adults with an alcohol or drug dependency or abuse disorder.

• Ability to use clinical psychometric, neuropsychological tools.

• Understanding of clinical case management in a multidisciplinary setting.

• Ability to be goal orientated and outcome focused.

• Effective communication skills.

Professional  Requirements:

Registration or eligibility for registration under the  New Zealand Psychologists Boards clinical scope of practice.

Career Path:

Psychologists can progress to senior and consultant grades (i.e., a separate merit scale).
