Key Focus:

Mental health service for young adults who are experiencing their first episode of psychosis.

Place of Work:

The position is a dedicated multi-disciplinary team within a  Youth Mental Health Service in Auckland. 

Key Roles:

  • To offer multi-faceted interventions and clinical treatment by early identification of young people with symptoms of psychosis.

  • To assist young people and their families/whanau to fully participate in achieving optimal recovery from psychosis.

  • The caseload of the team is low, allowing for dedicated commitment to those receiving services from our team.

Required skills & experience:

  • a qualification in clinical psychology

  • a strong interest and a flair for innovative working with young people with psychoses.

  • experience working as part of a multidisciplinary mental health team  

  • Ability to carry out psychological  assessments and interventions with clients major mental health disorders.

  • Understanding of clinical case management in a multidisciplinary setting

  • effective communication skills.

 

Professional Requirements:

Registration or eligibility for registration under the New Zealand Psychologists Boards clinical scope of practice.

Career Path:

Advancement by yearly increments up a nine level salary scale.

Psychologists can progress to senior and consultant grades (i.e., a separate multi-level merit salary scale ).

Some psychologists take on clinical leadership roles.
