Key Role:

To provide psychological assessment, treatment and support for people with major mental health disorders as part of a multi-disciplinary community mental health team. The psychologist will provide psychology services into the Community Mental Health Team through consultation and advice, assessment, individual and group treatment, and community education and development. 

The Team is a  components of  comprehensive Mental Health Services and combines availability and mobility with active, assertive follow-up and maintains contact with individuals through a case management system. The multi-disciplinary team works closely with consumers, family/whanau, and community groups in a supportive, educational and clinical role.

Key accountabilities for this role include; Management of clinical practice; Knowledge and understanding of mental health; Legal responsibility/clinical accountability; Communication; Professional development; Cultural safety , Quality Improvement; Health education; Management of environment; and other duties as may be reasonably required by the Team Leader.

Place of Work:

The position is based in South Auckland within a multi-disciplinary team.  

Required skills & experience:

•  Qualification in clinical psychology

• At least two years clinical experience

• Ability to carry out psychological  assessments and interventions with adults with major mental health disorders.

• Ability to use clinical psychometric and neuropsychological assessment tools.

• Understanding of clinical case management in a multidisciplinary setting

• Ability to be goal orientated and outcome focused.

• Effective communication skills.

Professional Requirements:

Registration or eligibility for registration under the New Zealand Psychologists Boards clinical scope of practice.
