Key Focus:

Consultation, assessments, and short focused interventions for young offenders presenting to the youth justice system  and  assessment, consultation and clinical services to young people presenting with a range of complex mental health issues, and who are involved with child protection.

Key Role:

To conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and provide reports to a high standard on children & adolescents presenting to the service.

To contribute as part of a multi-disciplinary team by providing psychological services to clients and consultation to staff.

Required skills & experience:

  •  Qualification in clinical psychology.

  • experience in the area of adolescent mental health, including working with families.

  • Experience of working with young people and families in crisis.

  • Experience of working with young people in social care.

  • Ability to demonstrate a solid foundation of clinical assessment and intervention

  • to manage an individual caseload and work as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • The applicant will be required to work appropriately alongside Maori, Pacific island and other cultural groups.

Professional  Requirements:

Registration or eligibility for registration the New Zealand Psychologists Boards clinical scope of practice.

Career Path:

Advancement by yearly increment up a nine step salary scale.

Psychologists can enter or progress to senior and consultant grades (i.e., a separate multi-level merit salary scale).
