Key Focus:

Older Adults Mental Health Service

Key Role:

To provide psychological assessment and neuropsychological assessments, interventions support for older adults as part of a multi-disciplinary mental health and rehabilitation team. Other activities include, but are not limited to: case consultation, in-service sessions and involvement in service development activities, and research and evaluation-related activities.
 

Place of Work:

The position is based in Auckland. 

Required skills & experience:

  •  Qualification in clinical psychology & a dedication to provide a comprehensive, integrated and progressive service to Older People who are affected by mental illness

  • Ability to carry out psychological  assessments and interventions with adults with older adults.

  • Ability to use clinical psychometric and neuropsychological assessment tools.

  • Understanding of clinical case management in a multidisciplinary setting

  • Ability to be goal orientated and outcome focused.

  • Effective communication skills.

 

Professional Requirements:

Registration or eligibility for registration under the New Zealand Psychologists Boards clinical scope of practice.

Career Path:

Advancement by yearly increments up a nine level salary scale.

Psychologists can progress to senior and consultant grades (i.e., a separate multi-level merit salary scale ).

Some psychologists take on leadership  and professional advisors roles.
